Closing Gifts Buyers Actually Keep
By the Naked Wood Works shop, Pryor, Oklahoma · September 2026
The closing gifts buyers keep are useful, personal to their new home and only lightly branded, which is why an engraved cutting board with their names and the year is such a strong choice. We engrave closing gift boards and coasters from solid maple or walnut, made to order in Pryor, Oklahoma, with room for a small logo or signature line if you want one.
What makes a closing gift stay in the house
Plenty of closing gifts get used once and forgotten: a bottle of wine, a gift card, a basket. They are fine, but nothing about them connects back to the house or to you. The gifts that stay tend to share a few traits:
- Their names are on it. A gift with the buyers’ names and the year they bought the house belongs to them in a way a generic item never does.
- It gets used or seen. A cutting board lives on the counter. Every time friends come over, it is part of the kitchen.
- It is not an ad. If your branding is small or absent, the buyers keep the gift out. If it is large, it goes in a drawer.
- It is sturdy. A solid wood board does not break in the move, and it will make the next move with them too.
Designs that suit a closing
A few of our boards are designed specifically for this moment:
- The Home Sweet Home Realtor Closing Board puts “Home Sweet Home” and the buyers’ names and year front and center, with your logo small in the corner.
- The Home Sweet Home Board with Agent Signature swaps the logo for a short “Compliments of” line with your name.
- The Realtor Logo Corner Closing Board is quieter still: your brokerage logo and a ‘Compliments of’ line with your contact details, tucked in one corner.
If you would rather leave your name off entirely, the Home Sweet Home Names Cutting Board is our best-selling design and works well as a plain closing gift. The Welcome Home Key Monogram Board is another good option: a skeleton key with the family initial, their names and year, and “Welcome Home.”
For a smaller gift, Home State Names Coasters put “HOME” with their state as the O, their names and the date on each coaster.
Budgeting per closing
A simple way to plan is to pick a price tier and keep it consistent across closings, then adjust for the occasional large sale. Using our current starting prices:
- Coasters: from $16.50 for a set of 2. A good gift for a smaller sale, or for a renter you helped.
- Boards: from $29.70 for an 8x12 in maple board.
- Larger boards: 10x14 in and 12x16 in boards cost more, and walnut costs a little more than maple at every size. Worth it for a larger commission or a repeat client.
- Extras: a handwritten card, paper gift wrap, a display stand and conditioning oil are optional add-ons for any board.
Exact prices for each size and wood show on each product page. If you are buying for a whole team or a year of closings, ask us about larger orders.
Timing and logistics
Every board is made to order in 3-5 business days, and shipping time comes on top of that. A few habits make it easier:
- Order when the contract goes pending, not the week of closing. You have the names by then.
- Keep a clean logo file handy so you are not hunting for it every time. A vector file is best; a high-resolution image works too.
- If a closing moves up, ask us about rush.
- Double-check names and dates before checkout. That is where mistakes happen, and we engrave them exactly as you type them. On logo boards, check the free digital proof we email too.
Past clients and the holidays
A closing gift is one moment. Staying in touch is the rest. A small holiday gift to past clients each December keeps your name in front of them. Our Custom Logo Ornament is a low-cost way to do that, from $16.60. Our corporate gift guide covers ordering logo gifts for a long client list.
A dedicated site for agents
We also run Forever Client Gifts, a site built just for real estate agents ordering closing gifts. It uses the same shop and the same boards. Use whichever is easier. You can also see everything for agents on our realtors page and browse all realtor closing gifts here.
